Uncle Josh's Buildings is run by James Beck, out of East Stroudsburg. James is hands-on with every job. He's the one walking your property with you, the one telling you what a build actually costs before you sign anything, and the one whose name is on the work when it's done.
It's a local building crew, based in the Poconos and building for the Poconos. There's no franchise behind it and no call center dispatching whoever's closest.
Where The Name Comes From
Before Uncle Josh's Buildings, James ran a technology company. He kept running into the same problem: people moving into brand-new homes, then having to reopen the walls just to add the wiring and networking they actually wanted. James figured the fix was obvious: plan the tech while the walls are still open. He took that idea to a few local builders, looking to partner up on new construction. Nobody wanted in. They were happy running things the way they'd always run them.
So James decided he'd build the homes himself, wired right from the start. He brought in his younger brother Josh, and together they started putting the business in place.
Partway through getting it off the ground, Josh passed away. He was twenty years old.
James's close friend Brandon Knerr stepped up and told him they could still make this work. Together they finished what James and Josh had started, and named the business Uncle Josh's, after Josh, and widened it from homes to steel buildings of every size: pole barns, garages, agricultural and commercial buildings, the full lineup you see today.
That's where the name comes from. Every build still carries what started it: all-steel construction, and the wiring planned before the walls close.
Why Local Is The Whole Point
Every big name you'll cross-shop against, from the regional post-frame brands to the out-of-area Amish crews, is running a two-hour drive to get to your property. James lives and works right here. That means a site visit happens fast, the crew already knows what Poconos ground and Poconos winters do to a building, and somebody's still around after the last screw goes in.
How James Works With You
James walks the site before any number gets written down. He looks at the slope, the ground, and the access, because that's what actually drives cost. Then he gives you a straight number: no "starting at" figure that turns into something else by the time you've added concrete, electrical, and doors. You'll know what's in your quote and what isn't, up front.
Uncle Josh's Buildings carries insurance as a local building crew. Ask James directly if you'd like the specifics for your project.
James builds all-steel, full stop, no wood post-frame. If you came to him asking about a wood pole barn, he'll tell you straight why he moved away from it and what an all-steel frame gets you instead. And because James also runs a technology company, every build gets planned tech-ready from the frame up: conduit and low-voltage runs go in before the skin goes on, so nobody's reopening a finished wall to add a network drop later.
